WWE SmackDown!: Pro Wrestler's Contract Terminated
WWE Releases Jeff Hardy After DUI Arrest
On June 23rd, 2022, Jeff Hardy was arrested in Volusia County, Florida and charged with driving under the influence (DUI). Hardy, who has a history of substance abuse issues, was released from jail on bond the following day.
In the wake of Hardy's arrest, WWE announced that it had released him from his contract.
WWE issued the following statement on Hardy's release: "Jeff Hardy has been released from his contract with WWE. We wish him the best in his future endeavors."
Hardy's release from WWE is the latest in a long history of substance abuse issues that have plagued the wrestler's career. In 2009, Hardy was suspended for 60 days after violating WWE's Wellness Policy. In 2011, he was arrested for possession of controlled substances. And in 2015, he was suspended for 30 days after failing a drug test.
Hardy's latest arrest and subsequent release from WWE is a reminder of the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of seeking help.
