Astor to be homeported in Adelaide in 2017
Adelaide to host 255 cruise ships over the next four years
More than 115,000 passengers expected to visit the city
After six years of cruising from Fremantle and Adelaide and carrying more than 115000 guests, Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV) is bringing its popular Astor back to Adelaide as its homeport for the 2017/18 season.
The ship will sail from Adelaide on a series of short cruises including a special 10-night Christmas cruise to Melbourne, Tasmania and Kangaroo Island, as well as a 14-night New Year’s Eve cruise to Fremantle and Geraldton.
The Astor will also offer a range of longer cruises, including a 21-night cruise to Singapore and a 35-night circumnavigation of Australia.
The announcement was made by CMV’s Managing Director, Chris Hemmings, at a press conference in Adelaide today.
"We are delighted to be bringing the Astor back to Adelaide as our homeport for the 2017/18 season," Mr Hemmings said.
"Adelaide is a beautiful city with a lot to offer our passengers, and we are confident that they will enjoy their time here."
The Astor is a 5-star ship with a capacity of 600 passengers. It offers a range of facilities, including a swimming pool, a spa, a gym, and a variety of restaurants and bars.
The ship’s arrival in Adelaide is expected to boost the local economy by millions of dollars.
"We are very excited to welcome the Astor back to Adelaide," said Adelaide Lord Mayor Martin Haese.
"The ship’s arrival will provide a significant boost to our local economy and will help to raise the profile of Adelaide as a cruise destination."
